I love sga_storyfinders.
And cheesecake.
And look, I have both.
In fact, every sentence ends better if you add "... with cheesecake."

Do You Like My Stupid Hair? by queenklu J2, PG-13 So...remember months and months ago a little fic called Half the Chance to Go? Where Jensen moved out and Jared lost his shit on the phone and then they HUGGED? PLATONICALLY (or whatever)? And then agreed to date? Well. This is that date. (FINALLY.) My exact comment post to this was: "OMG, this is so fucking adorable". Dude, its as adorable as Jared's dimples and Dean's omg-it's-pie-smile, srsly.
Boys of Summer by mijeraar J2, R It takes two years and ten months [a handful of weeks and days] for Jared to assimilate to Vancouver Cold. Which, by assimilate, he decides that he’s really fucking sick of it, thanks anyway. Full of sunshine and smiles, a nice short pick-me-up J2 to brighten your day. (If I hadn't thought of the electric bill first, I so woulda wanted to do this!) And if you like this, you'll love Revolver. A light, sweet romantic bit about awkward dating and a future after Supernatural. *glomps*
Let It Out by quasianpride J2 AU, R Teenage rock star Jared Padalecki makes a wager on national television that he can get actor Jensen Ackles to make out with him on camera. But when they actually meet, Jared finds himself wanting more than that. A 15 year age difference, rock-star lifestyle, and long distance relationship aren't going to get in his way. Doesn't the description just shout "CRACK"? But its not. It's actually all kinda funny and schmoopy. Tiny bits of angst and humor scattered about too. I ended up staying up wayyyyy too late last night to finish it, if that tells you anything. lol. And yes, it was kinda hot with idea of Jared being way too young for Jensen, which they totally make work but don't shy away from. Also, kinda different with Jared being the musician, huh?

The Barchester Chronicles: I watched the first six eps. There’s just one ep left now. The Stanhopes are wonderfully witty. Slope is a nasty piece of work! His battles with Mrs Proudie are hilarious.
House: I watched all the eps up to the 6.05 (Brave Heart). I’ve been loving Season 6. There’s more interaction between the characters, something that was lacking in the previous seasons.
Mad Men: I’ve finished Season 3. Wow, what a great finale! ( cut for spoilers )
Merlin: I’m up to date. I’m afraid I disagree with most of my journal friends about the latest ep, “The Lady of the Lake”, because ( cut for spoilers )

I put together a list of Pagan terms for use by nonpagans, specifically writers, at writing_religion: Pagan terminology for nonpagan writers.
It's about 2700 words long. I'd welcome any feedback or questions; part of me thinks it's okay, and part thinks it's about 1/3 done and needs at total rewrite--but if I waited until I thought it was "finished," I'd never get it posted. And there really isn't enough info available *about* Pagans that's not written for people who are joining/members of Pagan religions.
And incompleteness is not necessarily wrong, in this case. It's more important to me that nonpagans understand the complexity of the issues than that they learn the details involved.

We went down to Salinas to J's sister's new place, and holy crap is it huge. It's got a nifty layout, and infinitely more space than their old house. We hadn't seen Natalie since before she was walking so it took a while for her to stop giving J and I the suspicious eye, but by the end of the night it was lots of carry-me arms, and where Sophie is usually all about her Uncle J, somehow this time I ended up with her hanging on me more often than not. I suspect it was that I was wearing a pink shirt so that boosted my coolness rating. It's interesting to see the ways her personality has changed now that she's a big sister. Sometimes I wish we lived a bit closer in order to visit more often.
Anyway, we hung out, ate food, played with dolls, tried to devise a plan to steal their adorable pug, and at the end of the evening I got the bonus of belated b-day gifts. See subject. I have also increased my fuzzy scarf collection by one, so I should probably put out some of the ones I don't wear often out onto the curb.
The drive was nice, and J and I talked a lot about the ways in which we'd like to focus on our projects for school and general creative things. I'm back to having a solid idea of where to go with my current assignments so I'm feeling very rejuvenated about them. Which is good, as I need to be doubly-focused this weekend, since I didn't actually get any extra days off, and the lab is closed tomorrow which is typically my dedicated time to go in and work all day on my homework!

As I was basting the turkey about half way through the cooking time, I noticed that my oven's clock was still set on daylight savings time. So I reset it. When I went to check what should have been a finished turkey, I found that the oven had been turned off in the clock reset process. Everything is ready to serve but the turkey...
I apologized to my family. No one said that's ok. My nephew said, "I'm really, really hungry."
I feel like an idiot. How many years have I been cooking turkeys and never screwed up?
Edit: It was the best turkey I've ever made ... very, very moist. Maybe I should write down what I did! LOL!

So, since I've moved, I go to work by train, which is good as it gives me time for reading, etc.
Except that tonight, I managed to get onto the wrong train, and arrived at the storage station. *facepalm* Thankfully, the train driver was very helpful, and managed to find a colleague that went back to Lyon and could leave me at the station before the last train. :D

The Self-Importance of Being Jensen by vicious_trade J2, R In the summer hiatus before season five of Supernatural, Jensen has a lot on his plate. It's hotter than hell outside. There's an extremely impatient girlfriend waiting for him in LA. Jared's under the weather and leaving a trail of life-sucking germs throughout the house. Plus, not to mention, the all-encompassing inner battle to 'do the right thing'. Whatever the hell that is. I really sorta love this. NO offense to the real Jensen and Danneel (they're beautiful together), but in my fan-world this is the perfect kinda ending and I WANT IT TO BE CANON. Even the sick, hurt Jared part- Jensen taking care of him is totally perfect. This is one of the those stories where the characters speak and feel so much like the real thing that you get carried away thinking 'yes, this should so happen!'. I love the easy, realistic flow of their relationship. The honest, small minute details of living with someone that makes everything seem fuller, more real. ~long-ish
Rounding the Bases by crackedbuthappy J2 AU, NC-17 Jared is a firm believer that dating is like baseball. Every man who steps up to the plate has to work hard to round the bases. He doesn’t believe in letting anyone hit a home run; a guy has to work for it, he has to hit every base from his place in the batter’s box to sliding into home. And in Jared's baseball metaphor for life? Jensen's a very capable batter. Although it is a college AU, its really not about a college romance. Its about how to fall in love, how sex can fit into that, but not be the reason, and the amazing hot sex you can have when you wait for it - or build up to it, as Jared says! Its fun, hot and good time read. ~long-ish
This Is The Ultimate by neros_violin J2 AU, NC-17 Jensen is the UFC's Welterweight Champion, and the company's biggest star. He's also its most private. Jared is the writer assigned to help the public get to know him better. Jared is begrudgingly invited into Jensen's training camp, where Jensen is preparing for the biggest fight of his career, to get a better glimpse of his professional life. But Jared soon realizes he has a personal interest in Jensen. He's surprised when Jensen returns his feelings, and a real relationship begins to develop between them. It's torn apart when a devastating news story is leaked to the press, and Jensen shuts Jared out of his life. Jared watches from the sidelines as Jensen's career disintegrates in the passage of four five-minute rounds, and refuses to stay away. What they have, and the man Jensen doesn't realize he can be, are worth fighting for. Alright alright, I'll be honest. This has been rec'd all over the place, but I have just been really resistant to read it. I just didn't think I would really buy Jensen in this role. Not a fighter, but the whole champion thing. My presumptions about what kind of character he would be were completely off base, as was the notion that I wouldn't like it. Duh. It was a good read. The quiet determination Jensen shows, Jared's friendly nature and their chemistry were good, but I was surprised to really enjoy the training and fight descriptions. I have no idea how accurate they are, but it all reads very well - you can feel the pulse and flash of a fight night clearly. ~long-ish

Thanksgiving.
I was just informed that mom and her roommate were expecting me to do the Thanksgiving turkey. Along with pumpkin pie (crust from scratch) and my cheesecake.
Whut-?
This is going to be one of those weeks, isn't it?
Good thing it's 9am.
